At the center of the 117-page complaint is the school district's contract with a health insurance firm that is currently being investigated by the DOE. The school board initially awarded a longtime insurance broker a contract in June, then a few days later, gave the contract to another company.
In a letter to the district superintendent and business administrator, which is included in Cullen's complaint, representatives from the fired firm note that both insurance companies have worked for the district as co-brokers for the past 10 years. The letter claims that the board abruptly decided to change the contract, based on inappropriate conversations with the head of the other company and a business partner, which "tainted the open and fair process put forth by the board."
Calls to both companies were not immediately returned.
When asked about the board's hiring practices, DOE spokesman, Richard Vespucci, confirmed that the Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance is investigating the town's board of education. He said the investigation is still in its early stages and declined to release any additional information. Superintendent John Fauta said the school has provided OFAC "with all the necessary documentation." He declined to further comment.

Or should the headline read; “Politics DOES make strange bed fellows.” The fact that former West New York Mayor Sal Vega received a $60,000 dollar a year job to serve as the new High Tech HS Director of Transportation is in no way disturbing to me unless his qualifications fall short of the position requirements or he in time is unable to complete the job responsibilities required. I say this to address the number of individuals who have contacted me recently for my opinion. Time will be the ultimate judge.
What is disturbing however is seeing a recently published photograph of a smiling Mr. Vega alongside West New York Mayor Felix Roque.
In politics, a position such as the one Mr. Vega received is granted only after support is given by the local municipal leadership which in this case is from Mayor Roque. So, the question is, how can Mr. Vega after making numerous public statements to the tune of; “Voters were lied to” and Voters elected people that were corrupt” and “Thought himself as an Emperor” all referring to Mayor Roque and his administration – have any personal integrity left?
Furthermore, what of his loyal supporters? Were his differences with Mayor Roque all a lie? Did the Fairy just sprinkle her Fairy dust on Mayor Roque and all the problems facing West New York including West New York’s Educational System which resulted in a State Investigation and scathing report against Mayor Roque just disappear? I think not.
An action by Mr. Vega such as this and the support our Democratic Leadership has shown for someone that has damaged the town of West New York and the reputation of all good Democrats doesn’t make sense. Mayor Roque and his administration have been, are, and will continue to be a serious blemish on the residents of West New York and a severe hindrance to the education of our children. It is one thing to accept a position within the County as a qualified representative of a town and another to be the individual who has vehemently fought against the opposition (Mayor Roque) on behalf of the people primarily on philosophical principal to now bow down and kiss the ring of that very same opponent.
Does this mean Mr. Vega’s philosophical principals have changed and he no longer means what he said in prior years and in recent months or did he simply sell his personal integrity. Perhaps he is the only one that really knows for certain.
In my opinion, if Mayor Roque was wrong then by leading West New York down the wrong path, he is clearly wrong now. By Mayor Roque hiring a team of professionals to “Clean up” his image at taxpayer expense will never solve the problem. The only solution for the residents of West New York and all good Democrats is to remove Mayor Roque from office - then and only then will the people have a fighting chance to bring good politics and a better educational system for our children back to West New York and Hudson County.
The Rolando Cribeiros files are a number of letters that well known Businessman Rolando Cribeiro wrote from the jail while serving time for federal charges. Mr. Cribeiro is well known in political circles in Hudson County as he was a fundraiser for many well known political figures. On these letters Mr. Cribeiros exposes corruption and mismanagement and prophecies about future events that will happen in Hudson County. He uses nicknames for some politicians as for example: The Doctor is West New York "Mayor Felix Roque",and the Pope "Robert Menendez." These are the nicknames use by those within the political circle to identify politicians in case there are wires recording conversations. You have to guess who each person is. This is the first time we will get an inside view of someone who worked for the corrupt "Political Hudson County Machine" and now wants to expose this monster that feeds from our impoverish communities. These letters are written by Rolando Cribeiro and are not edited or change from his original version. They will be posted on the blog as they are received and are the views of Mr. Rolando Cribeiro.

This is Roly, inmate #654110050 no more, I wrote this letter and others from MDC Prison about 5 months ago. Today I am a free man and reunited with my family Kukuts, jail time in MDC is not a picnic, I hardly made it out of there alive, contrary to the Doctors opinion, there is no gym or library and you are lucky if you can get a couple of hours sleep a day. MDC makes the the Mariel boatlift look like a Mormon retreat.
When you do time in jail, the worst for me, was learning that my family was doing it with me. Especially my Mother who did every minute and hour. Just to make a point, of the 3000 contacts I had in my phone before I came in, only a few reached to me. King among them, Nito and his wife Wendy. Without them and my Mother I probably would have been in a glass cage on suicide watch unit in MDC or dead today. God Bless them, Thanks a million. Well Alrighty then.
